本剧根据上世纪七十年代末八十年代初发生在天山的一个真实故事改编。电影真实再现了一位普通共产党员、复员军人陈俊贵为当年修筑新疆天山公路而牺牲的168位解放军烈士义务守墓24年的感人故事。。Inspired by W.G. Sebald’s book and based on WWII archive footage, the film puts forward the question: is it morally acceptable to use civilian population as a means of war? Is it possible to justify mass destruction for the sake of higher “moral” ideals?
