唐浩、马光明、秦诗华和童大川是某都市大学的同班同学。唐浩长在农村，家境贫苦，马光明出生高干家庭，童大川爸爸是有钱的商人，而秦诗华则是当地有名资本家的千金，人长得漂亮，又善解人意，身边不乏追求者，马光明更是深爱着诗华，自认为和诗华是门当户对。但诗华却对唐浩颇有好感。随着岁月流逝，此时的唐浩已接任某机床厂厂长，但由于前期经营不善将面临被某大集团兼并的严重后果。谁知这突如其来的一切使他一步步陷入绝境，是非恩怨，矛盾挣扎。面对现实，他已作出最后抉择。。After thirty years in the big corporation, Ugo Fantozzi retires.
