本剧为《绝命毒师》的前传，讲述律师Saul Goodman的故事。本剧采用非线性叙事。Saul Goodman初次登场时并不叫Saul Goodman，他的名字叫Jimmy McGill，当时只是一个小律师与调查员Mike在一起工作，过着养家糊口的日子。本剧将描述Jimmy转变为Saul Goodman的全过程。。凯伦•特尼（Lori Heuring 饰）的丈夫长久以来饱受病痛折磨，最终不治身亡。失去经济来源的凯伦，只好带着两个女儿：莎拉（Scout Taylor-Compton 饰）和艾玛（Chloe Moretz 饰）搬到宾西法尼亚州艾迪镇的卡顿矿山，一幢在她丈夫名下的房子里居住。 本想逃避伤心往事平淡地生活，然而厄运却挥之不去。卡顿矿山1913年的时候，曾发生过一起严重的瓦斯爆炸事故，许多幼小的童工被活埋于此，从此幼童的恶灵便徘徊附近，报复加害人类。不久，艾玛神秘消失，凯伦不愿再失去女儿，她和莎拉踏上了寻找艾玛的险恶路途……。Created by Daniel Bogado and 72 Films (Inside North Korea’s Dynasty), and executive produced by Dan Lindsay and T.J.
